Matthew English, Of Counsel, joined the firm in November, 2011. Mr. English received his Bachelor of Arts in Political Science, as well as a Minor in Business Legal Studies, from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. He was a Trustees’ Merit Scholar at Capital University Law School in Columbus, Ohio, and graduated in the Order of the Curia in 2002.

During law school, Mr. English served as a judicial extern for the late United States Senior District Judge John D. Holschuh, Southern District of Ohio. Following law school, Mr. English moved to Ashland, Kentucky, where he began his extended clerkship career with the federal courts in the Eastern District of Kentucky. He first served as Law Clerk to former United States Magistrate Judge Peggy E. Patterson. After Judge Patterson retired in 2006, Mr. English continued clerking for her successor, United States Magistrate Judge Edward B. Atkins. Immediately prior to joining the firm, Mr. English concluded four years of service as Law Clerk to the Honorable Gregory F. Van Tatenhove, United States District Court Judge.

Mr. English’s practice is focused on complex commercial litigation. He is licensed to practice in the states of Kentucky and New York. He is also admitted to practice before the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit. Mr. English is an avid college football and basketball fan and enjoys running, cooking, cycling, and reading in his spare time.
